How to Run for Local Office Workshop

Saturday, June 24, 2023 City Hall Assembly Chambers from 8:45am – 1:30pm

In 2023, the workshop will be held on Saturday, June 24, in CBJ Assembly Chambers. The session runs from 8:45 am – 1:30pm. Pre-registration is recommended and required if you want a hard copy of the hand outs.  Register online at: https://tinyurl.com/2p95d7f6

If you think you might run for office – or might work for someone who is – our annual FREE Workshop on How to Run for Local Office provides you with everything you need to know about running for Mayor, Assembly or School Board, or serving on a CBJ Board or Commission. The 2023 Workshop is back to being in-person and registration is recommended.  If you have questions, email runforoffice.lwvj@gmail.com

At the workshop potential candidates, their campaign helpers, or others who may only be thinking about running in the future, learn all about what the jobs entail, deciding and preparing to run, how to get elected, and what happens if/when you win. Each attendee has access to a full ToolKit of information, including election requirements, the forms that have to be filed as well as many other resources for planning to make a run for the Assembly or School Board. Check back on this page for the 2023 Toolkit as we get closer to the Workshop date. In the meantime, check out the elections website for a peak of what was included in last year’s toolkit.

Please share this information with those who may be interested in running, or helping someone who is.
