The City and Borough of Juneau, together with consultants Coffman Engineers and J.A. Brennan Associates, will host two events on Wednesday, May 24, to present concepts for the future look of Marine Park and gather community feedback.
Juneau residents of all ages are invited to Marine Park from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. for a family-friendly gathering—complete with a fire pit and sidewalk chalk—that will offer the chance to see and learn about alternative proposals in the park space itself. CBJ and consultants will be on hand to discuss the different alternatives and help visualize changes to the park.
The casual gathering will be followed by a traditional public meeting in the City Hall Assembly Chambers from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The meeting will include project drawings and a slideshow presentation as well as the opportunity for more in-depth public comment.
Feedback gathered at both events will be used to develop a Marine Park Master Plan to guide the park’s long-term future and help direct upcoming renovations.
Following the development of this plan, a design for proposed improvements is scheduled for completion this fall. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2024. For the latest project information, visit the Marine Park Improvements project page.
