Today, Friday, March 3, Capital City/Fire Rescue responded to a fire at Glacier View Trailer Court resulting in one fatality, one injury, and total structural loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

At 10:40 a.m., Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to reports of a confirmed structure fire at 50 Glacier View Trailer Court, with one person still inside the structure. Arriving on scene, CCFR found heavy fire and bystanders attempting to enter the structure for a rescue effort. Fire crews made initial entry for fire attack and rescue. Inside the structure, crews discovered a deceased individual. The individual was removed from the structure and fire crews transitioned to a defensive fire attack. Following reestablishment of the water supply, due to heavy snow covering the hydrant, crews reenteered the structure and finished extinguishing the fire.

One individual was transported to Bartlett Hospital for treatment for burn injuries. Two dogs were also found deceased.Juneau Police Department remains on scene working with the Fire Marshal. The cause of the fire is under investigation.No firefighter injuries were reported. Firefighters from across the borough responded to the scene.
