SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium issued the following announcement on Feb. 26.
The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) is now offering pediatric speech-language therapy services in Sitka for children from birth to 21 years of age. Youth experiencing developmental delays or disabilities in communication can receive services from Cameron Young, M.S., CCC-SLP, a highly qualified provider within the Sitka Rehabilitation Services line.
Young graduated from the University of Oregon with master’s degrees in both Communication Disorders and Sciences and Early Childhood Special Education. Post graduate school, Young was awarded a fellowship at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital, receiving specialized training with pediatric diagnostic teams. She has more than 20 years of experience in the speech-language pathology (SLP) field, previously practicing in Juneau.
Young has a background in diagnostics and working with individuals who experience articulation and language disorders, difficulty with feeding and swallowing, apraxia, hearing loss, developmental delays, difficulty with social interactions, reading and writing delays, and craniofacial and cleft palate disorders. SLP therapy sessions focus on developmentally appropriate activities which work to achieve each child’s speech and language goals. Young’s vision is to help create a robust pediatric program which will serve children, support families, and collaborate with schools and early childhood programs in all SEARHC communities.
